Mark GorellMark Gorrell, is an architect and teacher with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon, a California State Architectural License, C-6120 and a National Council of Architectural Registration Boards Certificate, 16,604. He has been the Principal/Architect at Mark Gorrell, Architect, Berkeley, California, from 1977 to present and an instructor at the College of Marin, Architecture Department, Kentfield, California, from 2000 to present. Mark has designed Resource Recovery Facilities of various types and sizes in California, Hawaii, West Virginia, England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India and the Philippines, including: The City of Berkeley Recycling Center, from early proposals (published in Sierra Magazine) to final designs; two prototype (50 tons per day and 100 tons per day) full resource recovery designs for the State of West Virginia; resource recovery facilities for Sonoma and Del Norte Counties in California; Urban Ore EcoPark in Berkeley, California; a Recycling center design for Richmond Environmental Action in San Francisco, California; a recycling and reuse center in Eureka, California; a recycling/reuse center in Kauai, Hawaii; schematic designs for resource recovery parks for Melbourne and Adelaide, Australia and Dunedin, New Zealand; schematic designs for resource recovery facilities in Johannesburg, South Africa and Kovalam, India and a schematic prototype design for a larger baronage in the Republic of the Philippines. Mark Gorrell is also a member and former president of the Ecology Center Board of Directors; a member of the Board of Directors of the Berkeley EcoHouse; a member of the Board of Directors of the Urban Ore Development Associates; a member of the Berkeley Plastics Task force and the International Plastics Task Force; a former member and president of the Berkeley Energy Commission; a former member of the Board of Directors of the Community Energy Services Corp and a former director and president of the Sustainable Business Alliance: Berkeley.
